You Are A New Creation
When you made the decision to believe in Christ as your Savior, the Holy Spirt was deposited within you. By this gift, you became a new creation in Christ. The transformation from your old, worn-out ways to different, fresh, innovative thoughts, words, and actions was meant to begin!
But did that happen for you? Have you allowed your new creation – the new you – to grow and pour out at home, work, and in the grocery line? Maybe, sometimes, what are you talking about(?) might be your answer.
If wearing your old self is more common than putting on the new fabulous you, finding yourself stuck in the dark, hanging around waiting for a better more meaningful life can be expected. Why? Because your new creation is crying to be put on and revealed.
Living New Means Letting Go Of The Old
Have you ever let go of anything – anyone you desperately wanted to hang on to? I have. Not just one thing. Many things. Attitudes, beliefs, habits, and people.
I’ve had to let go of my:
- Marriage through divorce
- Attempt to satisfy my desire to be noticed, belong, and be good enough by too-often purchasing new, fun, and desirable things
- Hope for security and approval in my career
- Search for comfort through harmful habits, and
- The lies I told myself and the ones whispered to me.
Believe me, I clung to this ‘stuff’ of my old self until … I couldn’t any more.
Jesus put me on notice and began to gently pry the old, raggedy things from my clenched hands. And he gave me the grace to eventually, willingly depart from them. Finally, the new me … the new creation could begin to shine through.
Don’t get me wrong. I’m not done letting go. Releasing the old self is an ongoing process. But recognizing what needs to go does become easier as does the desire and discipline to allow the letting go to happen.
By God’s grace, your new you can shine through, too!
You Need A Closet Organizer
When I think about getting rid of the stuff no longer useful to my new nature, I imagine standing in front of a closet full of things that don’t fit, are out of style, or no longer serve me well.
Getting rid of what no longer belongs in our closets can seem overwhelming. But there is a way out. There is help. You can hire a professional closet organizer you trust to guide you through the process.
This organizer would use the experience and wisdom she has and power you allow her to advise you.
So what if, like getting help from a professional closet organizer, you seek help letting go of things, attitudes, beliefs, habits, and people that hold you back? The ones that keep you stuck in your old ways? The ones that keep you from God’s most fulfilling and inspiring life? Ones that:
- No longer fit who Christ says you are.
- Are out of step with your Christ-like character.
- No longer serve Christ or your testimony well.
How do you do it? Well, you can’t. Not on your own. But it can be done when you allow and trust the Holy Spirit … the Power of the risen Christ to guide you.
Who could possibly have more experience, wisdom, and power to reveal the new you than the Spirit of Christ in you?
You are a new creation. Let the new you shine through.
Say a prayer believing God has given you the strength to overcome the attitudes, beliefs, habits, and people – the old you desires and clings to – so that you can begin stepping forward into the most fulfilling life he has already prepared for you.
